Kate Nash annoys me and interests me in equal parts. I can’t quite pinpoint what bugs me about her, but something about her seems… false.
Nonetheless, she is more talented than people give her credit for and I enjoyed her turn for fem-pop riot grrrl with 2010’s My Best Friend Is You. Do-Wah-Doo has the catchy refrain of a doo-wop classic, melodic piano refrain and easy to singalong lyrics that worm into the brain and lodge there for good. Thus I can’t help but put it on and have my moment of female empowerment without reeking of schmaltz pop guilt.
