30 Day Song Challenge: a song you can dance to

Do you like to dance? Do you like to dance whilst a dude on stage dances like George Michael circa Wham? I thought as much – I present, Bear In Heaven.

This Brooklyn-based band surprised a lot of people with their 2009 record Beast Rest Forth Mouth. A psych-dance soundscape, they’ve openly admitted to wanting to create dance music, and they do a pretty stellar job of it on Ultimate Satisfaction.

It’s all in the build – opening with Jon Philpot’s voice, that rippling guitar effect, then following with drums and synths. It grows before exploding on the final chorus. I dare you not to dance like Kevin Bacon in Footloose at that point.
